As we have discussed in previous topics our Qi (life energy) flows through our meridians and around our body. The point in which these meridians join are called Chakras. There are 7 main chakras that run along our spine and through the neck and the crown of your head. These chakras act like swirling vortexes that join the rivers together. In sanscript the word Chakra loosely translates to “wheel” or “disk,”. Blockages at this level could affect multiple meridians, if we dam the point of a river where multiple rivers join and only let a trickle feed through there will be too much in one area of the body and very little in other areas leading to an imbalance. Chakras are the primary centers of energy in the body and responsible for meridian energy distribution. Each Chakra has a corresponding color and sound frequency. These colors can be linked to the five elements in Chinese Medicine and link to corresponding organs.
The seven main chakras that we will be focusing on are the Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, 3rd Eye and Crown. Although there are a total of 114 chakras throughout our body.
