Auricular therapy is a form of alternative medicine based on the idea that the ear is a micro system, which reflects the entire body, represented on the auricle, the outer portion of the ear. Conditions affecting the physical, mental or emotional health of the patient can be treated by stimulation of the surface of the ear exclusively. Detection of selective ear reflex points can be determined by monitoring tenderness to applied pressure.
Auricular Therapy is perfect when worked with intention because it is so close to the brain, meaning that communication is very quick and very clear. Shen Men Is one of the Master Points to work with and has so many different uses. Auricular Therapy is also great to use with Children with Autism as it works to calm the toning, the high pitched noises that can be heard specifically by Autistic Children.
In 1990, the World Health Organization (WHO) created a standardized list of 39 auricular points. Of these 39 standard points, 10 master points are often used in auricular acupuncture treatments.
Some of the most commonly used points in the ear include:
- shenmen, also called “ear shenmen” to differentiate it from another point on your wrist
- point zero
- kidney
- sympathetic
It is standard practice that Auricular Therapy is performed on a patient that is seated. This course is to give you an overview of some common aliments and possible treatments. You must gain an understanding of the patients needs and determine if this therapy will be a good fit. Typically Auricular Therapy is performed with pressure or needles on the points. Using Stiper Quars number 3 allows us to stimulate these points.
When using the Stiper Quars set an a strong intention before application. This will ensure the most effective practice.

For more information on Auricular Therapy it is recommended you complete a formal course.
